Willian Lloyd Garrison, one of the most outspoken opponents of slavery during the early 1800s once said,

"I am in earnest - I will not equivocate - I will not excuse - I will not retreat a single inch; and I will be heard."

Garrison and others, finding themselves initially outnumbered in their condemnation of this deplorable institution, realized the difficulty in speaking in opposition to the prevalent viewpoint. For these abolitionists however, their strong belief in their convictions gave them the strength to take such a stand. Two hundred years later, dissension of opinion is often equally difficult. In the society of academia, in which the conservative voice is raised only in the background, if at all, the struggle to be heard continues. The University of Chicago College Republicans ask your help in bringing the conservative voice to the forefront of discussion and in demonstrating that, while we may indeed be outnumbered, we are truly never outclassed.
